Didja hear? The Super Bowl is this weekend. It’s the one time people who don’t know Eli Manning from Eli Whitney suddenly have strong opinions about pulling guards and completion percentages.

But here are some things about the Super Bowl you may not know (complied from random and assorted sites from the interwebs, so take them for what they are):

-By the time the winner lifts the Vince Lombardi trophy on Sunday night, Americans will have eaten 1.25 billion (with a b) chicken wings .

-On a related note, antacid sales go up 20 percent this weekend.

-We know the Super Bowl is a big day for pizza delivery. It’s also apparently a big day for pizza delivery-related accidents . They go up 9 percent on Super Bowl Sunday.

- Almost half of the people who will watch Sunday aren’t football fans. And the majority of men will watch for the game, the majority of women will watch for the commercials.

-At some point Sunday, there’s a 78 percent chance that someone will seriously ask you,  “Who’s playing?”

-Super Bowl Sunday is among the top four drinking days of the year, along with New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving Eve and St. Patrick’s Day.

-Players on the winning Super Bowl team will get a check for $88,000. Losers (if that’s really what to call them) will get $44,000.

-Tickets to the first Super Bowl cost between $7 and $12. Beers will cost that much year. Tickets this year start at $600, and that’s face value. Online we’ve seen them for up to $14,000.

-Announcers will say the name “Gronkowski” 142 times between now and Sunday. Ironically, that is also the number of men employed in the US as NFL analysts.

- Married women would rather “hook up” with Giants QB Eli Manning than Patriots QB Tom Brady. Keep in mind, this was a NY Daily News survey.

- Brady’s supermodel wife, Giselle, has reportedly sent an email to her friends, asking them to pray for her husband to win the Super Bowl. Umm. OK. Lemme tackle this.

First, God has bigger fish to fry than who wins a stinkin’ Super Bowl.

Second, I refuse to pray for something where the alternate outcome will still earn the person $44,000.

Third, what does this say about these people? Is this really the biggest issue in their lives? Giselle, thanks for confirming that we have run out of things to pray for. Childhood illness has apparently been eradicated, wars are over, deadly medical conditions have been cured, hearts have been mended and our country and its inhabitants are blessed with abundance in all ways. To say she’s out of touch is ridiculous. She’s out of her mind.

-The U.S. may set a betting record for this year’s Super Bowl. For those of you interested (for entertainment purposes only), the line at last check was the Patriots by 3, and the over/under is 55.

-We lushy Americans will drink 50 million cases of beer Sunday.

So enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday. And don’t even think about calling in sick Monday. It’s waaay too obvious. Suck it up and call in Tuesday. No one will predict that.
