CINCINNATI - One family has pledged to donate $8,000 to Hamilton County’s Help Me Grow program.

Jean Robert and Annette de Cavel of the de Cavel Family SIDS Foundation announced Monday the donation to the program. Help Me Grow aims to coordinate community-based services for newborns to age 3. The $8,000 will go toward the purchase of 114 cribs to help low-income families provide safe sleeping arrangements for their newborns.

Dangerous sleeping arrangements can cause death to younger children. Hamilton County's annual Child Fatality Review reports found that unsafe sleeping arrangements may have contributed to 75 child deaths from 2007-2011.

The de Cavels lost their 3-month-old daughter, Tatiana to SIDS in 2002. The organization, which was founded by the couple, is focused on SIDS research and education.

More information about the foundation can be found at its website,  www.eatplaygive.net.
