CINCINNATI -
The New Year is almost here and many people are busy counting down and making their resolutions, but have you thought about making a resolution that is about your pets?

Bob Howard from the Stray Animal Adoption Program has a top 5 list that you should consider as a pet owner.

   1.  Spay or neuter your pet.  When you spay/neuter your pet it can help cut down on the number of of unwanted pets who need a home.  Plus, there are also health benefits.  Studies have shown that it reduces the risk for cancer and can cut down on aggression.

   2.  Get your pet ID'd.  It is easy, safe and affordable to get your pet microchipped.  Pets can be identified even if they lose their collar.

   3.  Use preventive medicine.  You can increase your pet's life by using heartworm medication.  Flea and tick treatment will keep them from scratching and having diseases spread from ticks.

   4.  Go to the vet.  Regular checkups can help detect any potential problems.  Don't just wait for when your pet is injured.

   5.  Exercise your pet.  As you set your exercise goals, think about including your pet.  They can help you stay focused.  This puts a new twist on a repetitive New Year's goal for many by holding you accountable to a goal that is beneficial to you and your pet.

Bob Howard from the Stray Animal Adoption Program brought Booboo in to Pet Pals this week.

BOOboo is an Italian Greyhound mix.  He is 6 years old and has been neutered.  BOOboo is very attentive and likes to play.  He would make a wonderful family pet.
