CINCINNATI - It's a day that's been four years in the making and now Wednesday marks the start of the 2012 World Choir Games.

On Wednesday, 15,000 international participants will gather together for the first time to march through U.S. Bank Arena during the opening ceremony. It's the first time the world's largest choral competition is being held in the United States.

The opening ceremony will include performances by the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, May Festival Chorus and nine-time Grammy award winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin.

The event will also include the ringing of the Peace Bell, a presentation of flags from the 64 participating countries and a performance of the official 2012 World Choir Games song, "I Can."

Security will be on high alert at the international event. U.S. Bank Arena is enforcing its usual rules, including conducting bag checks. No backpacks will be allowed in. Things like flags, banners, noisemakers and video cameras are also banned from the opening ceremony.

The 2012 World Choir Games Opening Ceremony starts at 7 p.m. at U.S. Bank Arena. WCPO anchors Clyde Gray and Carol Williams will emcee the event. WCPO is the official television sponsor of the games.

Tickets are still available for the event. They start at $25.
