CINCINNATI - Week 1 of the World Choir Games has passed and 10 champions have been crowned. Week 2 of the competition begins with a parade in downtown Cincinnati.
The Celebration of Nations Parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the Duke Energy Convention Center. It will go along Fifth Street and to Fountain Square. Fifth Street will be shut down during the parade, with staging beginning around 4 p.m. Those in the area should expect delays or seek alternate routes from the downtwon area.
The parade is expected to include:
• Cincinnati Fire Department Color Guard
• Classic Fire Engine with World Choir Games mascots Whirl and Twirl
• Mayor Mark Mallory, co-Grand Marshal
• Bootsy Collins, co-Grand Marshal, with his wife Patti
• INTERKULTUR President and World Choir Games President Günter Titsch
• Also: Sponsors, fire trucks, and a procession of choirs alphabetically (beginning, however, with Greece – a nod to the roots of the Olympic Games)
A brief program is expected to start around 7:30 p.m. with the Cincinnati One in Song Choir singing "I Can," the official song of the World Choir Games. Regularly scheduled Fountain Square programming will begin after the World Choir Games performance.
