CINCINNATI - Looking for something to do this weekend? WCPO and CityBeat have teamed up to bring you the top 9 weekend things to do in the Tri-State.
1. Beyond Emancipation exhibit
Celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King with Beyond Emancipation, opening this weekend at the Kennedy Heights Art Center.
Beyond Emancipation is an exploration of post-emancipation African-American culture through contemporary art, with works on display representative of the connection between the past and recent history. 2. Have a laugh with Louis Katz
They say there’s an advantage to knowing at an early age what you want to do with your life. For comedian Louis Katz that discovery was made at the age of nine when he submitted several jokes to the "Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
He performs at Go Bananas Comedy Club in Montgomery. The show runs Thursday through Sunday. Get show details here .
3. Tear the roof off with George Clinton
George Clinton explores the intersection of psychedelically charged Rock and raw Funk while Parliament expands the parameters of Soul, Funk, Pop and wildly surreal musical theater.
Surfing his career’s inevitable peaks and valleys, Clinton has notched a highlight reel of incredible accomplishments: over 40 hit R&B singles and three No. 1s with Parliament-Funkadelic; a trio of platinum albums; production credits for Bootsy Collins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and others; an amazingly diverse solo career; a reputation as one of Funk’s primary architects with the additional honor of being one of music’s most sampled artists; Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee; NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award recipient; and object of idol worship in the Rock and Rap communities.
They play Bogart’s in Corryville. For details click here .
4. From punk to prose: Larry Kirwan shares music, memoir
Larry Kirwan is no mere Punk provocateur — he’s written a memoir, two novels and a dozen plays and musicals, and he’s currently collaborating with Schindler’s List author Thomas Keneally on a musical.
As the frontman for Black 47, a band named for the worst year of the Irish famine and once banished from NYC Punk grotto for being "too demonic", came to prominence in the ’90s, had an MTV hit with “Funky Ceili” and built a fan base with a series of socio-politically-loaded albums, including New York Town and Bankers and Gangsters.
He performs at the Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati. Get details here .
5. Let the good times roll!
Let the good times roll and bring Bourbon Street to Cincinnati at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s Arty Mardi Gras Party. The Cincinnati Art Museum will transform The Terrace Café into a French Market, where you can dine on authentic beignets and enjoy café au lait.
Dance to live Cajun and Zydeco music, feast on New Orleans-style hors d’oeuvres and drink at the cash bar before your night in the Big Easy.
The party is from 8-11 p.m. at CAM in Mount Adams. For more information click here .

A typical Saturday night might include a few Buds or Miller Lites — maybe a Blue Moon or Killian’s for those feeling adventurous. But for those true beer drinkers out there whose palates yearn for more, Brew Ha-Ha is the place to be.
The event will feature a variety of the finest craft brews from around the country, while comedians Josh Sneed and Greg Hahn will provide the entertainment.
