MPMF has partnered with the Midland Film Institute (MFI) to extend the festival's programming for 2012, adding the work of independent filmmakers to complement the music. MFI, an organization devoted to independent film, will serve as the exclusive producer, presenter and curator of the first MidPoint Film Festival™ to run September 27-29 at Cincinnati's renowned School for Creative and Performing Arts' Mayerson Theater.

"I feel it a natural progression for MidPoint Music Festival to include independent filmmakers," said Dan McCabe, MPMF's Executive Producer. "I'm especially excited about the intersection of music and film. We all, filmmakers and musicians alike, will be able to experience each others crafts."

Presented by Bioré®, this year's film component is the capstone of a 12-week student program entitled the Mile in My Shoes Project™, a program for young filmmakers who are still in school earning their Audio/Video degrees to produce a documentary featuring a specific segment of the community. This year MFI is honoring women veterans, having filmed them telling stories of what it means to be a female soldier in today's armed forces. The Mile in My Shoes filmmakers and their featured subjects will participate in a talk back session following the film's presentation.

The festival lineup includes films that are experimental, a little weird, heart-warming, funny and scary, and shot by local, national and international filmmakers. The festival begins Thursday evening with a community welcome and introductions of filmmakers working on a local documentary, followed then by a surprise screening soon to be announced. Friday night offers a fun double horror feature presented by Samhain Publishing. Saturday's lineup begins with a showcase from Happen, Inc, with an assortment of films created by talented kids who reside in Cincinnati's Northside community. And that is followed by the film that resulted from the Mile in My Shoes project, created by local Audio/Visual students from Cincinnati State.

As affirmed by Marcelina Robledo, Executive Director of the Midland Film Institute and MidPoint Film Festival, "2012 is proving to be an exciting and thrilling year for independent artists and MidPoint festival goers. For the last 10 years, MidPoint Music Festival has become a leading event to discover the talents of emerging indie rockers. This year the opportunity extends to independent filmmakers as well. The merging of the two camps exemplifies once again that the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region is an exceptional place to live and discover the next wave of independent artists."

Tickets for MidPoint Film Festival™ are now on sale at http://MidPointFilmFestival.com.
