The Cincinnati Pops and Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. are teaming up to turn out a limited edition beer, Kunzel Lager, brewed to honor the life of Pops Orchestra Founder Erich Kunzel, who passed away in September 2009.

In honor of Cincinnati’s love for an excuse to listen to good beer and drink good—er…well anyways, the Cincinnati Pops and the Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. are teaming up to turn out a limited edition lager. The Kunzel Lager, a golden Helles lager has been brewed so to honor the life of Cincinnati Pops Founder, Erich Kunzel, who passed away in September of last year. There will be 200 cases sold at $45 a case before Friday. A portion of the proceeds from the sales will go to the Erich Kunzel Legacy Fund.

The Cincinnati Pops will feature “And the Tony Goes To…The Best of Broadway” at the Riverbend Music Center on Saturday where any cases of lager not guzzled by the house band will be sold. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., but be sure and arrive early as the event is free and features the Pete Wagner Schnapps Band.
