CINCINNATI - A new kind of music festival is making its debut this weekend in Cincinnati. The first Cincinnati Psych Fest will take place Saturday, Oct. 20 at Mayday, a popular watering hole and music venue for hipsters in the eclectic neighborhood of Northside.
The one-day event, which is inspired by the annual Austin Psych Fest, celebrates 60s Psychedelia and modern adaptations of the genre. (Sorry, no fortune telling or astrological charts at this festival).
Tickets are $10 and the event includes performances by the following local and out of town bands:
- The People’s Temple (Lansing, Mich.)
- Mondo Drag (Davenport, Iowa)
- Outer Minds (Chicago)
- Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor (Detroit)
- Heaven’s Gateway Drugs (Ft. Wayne, Ind.)
- Children of The Emerald Fire (Cincinnati)
- The Harlequins (Cincinnati)
- Ohio Knife (Cincinnati)
- The Tongue & Lips (Cincinnati)
The festival will feature Doctor Robert’s Ocular Odyssey‘s Psychedelic Light Show of Fort Wayne and DJ Blythe Shadburn of Louisville, Ky. spinning psych and garage vinyl.
