In honor of Montgomery's sister-city Neuilly-Plaisance, the city will host a Bastille Day celebration Saturday, July 14.

The street party will transform downtown Montgomery with French flair with French flags and beret-wearing volunteers.

Featured at the celebration will be The Rusty Griswolds and the Ridge Runners playing between 7 and 11 p.m., historic walking tours, beer tasting, 16 food booths with Best Of awards, a kids area, a waiter's race and much more.

What is Bastille Day you ask? It is the French national holiday which commemorates the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. In France, it is called “Fête Nationale” (“National Holiday”). Each year on July 14, France celebrates with parades, festivals, patriotic events and fireworks.

Join the fun in Montgomery beginning at Saturday at noon. Admission is free.
