In the Closet: Friends of Fashion

Some of the most consistent curating in this city routinely comes out of the Fashion Art Department at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Between them, Associate Curator of Costume & Textiles Cynthia Amnéus and Curator of Decorative Arts and Design Amy Miller Dehan are largely responsible for the success of such recent shows as Art Deco, Wedded Perfection and Nick Cave’s Meet Me at the Center of the Earth.

As their work so often involves costly/labor-intensive restoration and conservation of vintage costumes and textiles, fundraisers are a necessary part of the job. This coming Friday at the Bertke Electric Warehouse in Northside, Cincinnati Fashion Week will host a fashion show and installation featuring fashion stylist and collector Tony Tiemeyer’s vintage 1950s to 1980s couture, featuring a presentation from native son fashion designer John Bartlett. All proceeds benefit the Fashion Arts department of the Cincinnati Art Museum. Front row seats are $50; general admission tickets are $15 pre-sale, $20 at the door. 7:30 p.m.-midnight.
