2. Heights Music Festival
Heartless Bastards, The National and Walk the Moon are just a few of the many nationally acclaimed bands that started their musical careers in Cincinnati. Taking advantage of multiple venues in Clifton Heights, the Heights Music Festival creates a stage for more than 40 different acts to build with other artists and gives fans a sample of the best local music that Cincinnati has to offer.

3. Taste of the World Wine and Beer Festival
The Taste of World Wine and Beer Festival has been an annual staple for Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. The event has aided and raised money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for a continuous eight years and the LLS is eager to kick off this year’s event.
The Fest will take place amongst the fish of the Newport Aquarium this year. Guests will be able to sample and relish a variety of food from a plentiful selection of Greater Cincy and Northern Kentucky restaurants. The event, as always, has enlisted top winemakers, distillers and brew masters courtesy of Party Source.

4. Holiday Junction at Cincinnati Museum Center
If you're looking for something festive to do with your family this weekend, the Holiday Junction at the Cincinnati Museum Center is back.
The exhibit which features holiday trains donated by Duke Energy has more than 300 miniature rail cars and 60 engines that run along 1,000 feet of track. The tradition started in 1946 and since then more than 9 million people have come to see the train display, according to the Cincinnati Museum Center's website.

5. Comedian Cy Amundson
If you were in a scavenger hunt and needed to find a “comedian on the rise,” you would do well to bring back Cy Amundson. The Minnesota native was named “Next Big Comic” in 2011 by CMT, is a regular on the "Bob & Tom Radio Show" and recently made an appearance on "The Conan O’Brien Show." His love of comedy started when he was a kid watching TV with his father and older brother.
“We weren’t allowed to watch MTV at my house, so we would watch 'Cheers' and David Letterman, when he was on NBC. I also became obsessed with 'The Dick Van Dyke Show,' 'Mary Tyler Moore' and, of course, 'Saturday Night Live.'” Though he has pursued some acting roles, he doesn’t see stand-up as a steppingstone.

6. Aimee Man and Ted Leo perform at 20th Century
After a tough previous week when she was stuck in New York City during and after “Frankenstorm” Sandy, this Friday night at 8 p.m., veteran singer/songwriter Aimee Mann performs in Cincinnati at 20th Century Theatre (3021 Madison Road, Oakley). For 30 years, Mann has built a dedicated core of adoring fans swept away by her smart, clever and emotionally resonate take on Pop music, driven partly by her uniquely inviting vocals (which former CityBeat writer Brad Quinn once brilliantly described as “egg-shaped”). She first came to the attention of the public at large with her group ’Til Tuesday, which received massive support from MTV and radio for the hit “Voices Carry” (Mann and some funny pals recently parodied it in a hilarious new video from her latest album, Charmer).
Another gifted writer deserving of more attention, Ted Leo (of “and the Pharmacists” fame), opens the show solo.

7. Esquire's 101st B-Day Bash
Jerry Springer returns to the Queen City for a big bash, and I’m not talking about bashing people with chairs. He’s hosting an evening of reminiscing, stories and celebrations as the Esquire Theatre turns 101 years old.

8. Fabricate celebrates 3 years with local artist's show
Part-handmade craft gift shop, part-art gallery, Fabricate in Northside has led the way for artists of all stripes to exhibit and sell their wares for the better part of three years now. To celebrate their three-year anniversary (only one week before the Crafty Supermarket — another venture from Fabricate co-owner Chris Salley — naturally) it hosts Tabula Rasa, a small collection of painted illustrations by local artist Sara Gelbert.
Gelbert operates her own brand of fine art and design-inspired objects under the name Excitations and routinely crafts feathers, insects and other natural subjects upon appropriated materials like leather and wood. Expect to see painted examples of Gelbert’s meticulous attention for detail and get a chance to celebrate the continued success of independent small business owners during the November edition of Northside’s Second Saturdays.

9. 'Grim and Fischer' returns to Know Theatre
The show’s title sounds a bit like a law firm, or maybe a grotesque vaudeville team. But it’s actually quite literal: “Grim” is Death (aka The Grim Reaper). And in this production that was a big hit in three sold-out performances during the 2012 Cincinnati Fringe, he meets his match in Mrs. Fischer, a tenacious elderly woman who’s nowhere near ready to draw her last breath.
Two actors wearing full-face masks enact a wordless tale, a hilarious showdown for survival that’s told with tenderness. So sensitive is the unspoken performance by Wonderheads Theatre from Portland, Ore., that people who attended during the Fringe swore that the masks changed expressions.
