1. Bras with Flair on the Square

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Cincy Chic is hosting its annual Bras with Flair on the Square event downtown this Friday.

Hundreds of bras will be unveiled on Fountain Square and the public is invited to vote for their favorite from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During that time, no cost mammograms will be provided and paid for through a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. A fashion show takes place later in the evening, followed by an after party on the Square.

2. Cincinnati Half Marathon

The third annual Cincinnati Half Marathon takes place this weekend. On Saturday Oct. 20, participants can either run or walk on a flat, fast course throughout downtown Cincinnati.

Runners will begin at the intersection of E. Pete Rose Way and Eggleston Avenue, pass the Bengals and Reds' stadiums, loop around the historic Longworth building, then head back downtown on Race Street, and pass Fountain Square to Riverside Drive.

All proceeds benefit the Spina Bifida Association of Cincinnati. For more information visit http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_news/cincinnati-half-marathon .

3. Northern Kentucky Wine Festival

Home to the first commercial vineyard in the United States, Kentucky was once producer of more than half the nation’s grape and wine output. Now, Kentucky is reclaiming its proud heritage and rebuilding its wine industry to take its place among the world’s best. There’s no need to travel to Napa Valley for a wine tasting when you have the hills of Kentucky in your backyard.

Party Town presents the seventh Annual Northern Kentucky Wine Festival at Mainstrasse Village. The celebration featuring Kentucky’s own wineries kicks off at 3 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m.

4. Comedian Pauly Shore performs in the Tri-State

In 2012, not too many folks greet Pauly Shore with a “what’s up bu-ddy?” While he’s proud of his past and the cult standing of films like "Bio-Dome," the original “dude comic” is always moving forward. His latest project, Pauly Shore’s Pauly-Tics, comes out on DVD on Election Day.

“It’s a cool special, I’m proud of it.” Mixing stand-up and interview footage, Shore talks to several politicians and pundits in Washington, which he then muses about onstage. He performs this weekend at the Funny Bone.

5. Cincinnati Psych Fest debuts this weekend

A new kind of music festival is making its debut this weekend in Cincinnati. The first Cincinnati Psych Fest will take place Saturday, Oct. 20 at Mayday, a popular watering hole and music venue for hipsters in the eclectic neighborhood of Northside.

The one-day event, which is inspired by the annual Austin Psych Fest, celebrates 60s Psychedelia and modern adaptations of the genre. (Sorry, no fortune telling or astrological charts at this festival).

The festival includes performances by local and out of town bands. And what would be a psych fest without a light show? Doctor Robert’s Ocular Odyssey‘s Psychedelic Light Show of Fort Wayne, Ind. will also be present.

6. The Queen City is Haunted

The wise guys who brought the Newport Gangster Tours to our city bring on the thrills and chills with the Queen City is Haunted Walking Tour. Expect wild and wooly tales of murder, deception and mayhem that lie buried just below the surface of our Midwestern metropolis.

Tour highlights include the spirits of Music Hall, Cincinnati’s Murder College and the river valley’s top serial killer. Tours are conducted by American Legacy Tours, founded by a group of locals who are fanatical about Cincinnati history and historical accuracy.

7. Books by the Banks

A one-day smorgasbord for book lovers of every stripe, Books by the Banks again takes over the Duke Energy Convention Center, featuring more than 100 local, regional and national authors who work in a variety of genres and styles. The daylong event includes a pavilion where readers can meet and purchase books by their favorite writers, panel discussions, a Kids’ Corner and too many other activities to fit in this sentence.

Perhaps best of all: Books by the Banks is free and open to anyone who wants to experience its many pleasures. Click here (http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/entertainment/citybeat/lit-books-by-the-banks) for more details.

8. Keller Williams at 20th Century

If nothing else, Keller Williams is one of the most versatile and virtuosic musicians around. This guy can play just about anything (piano, guitar, bass, theremin, synthesizer and percussion). But what makes his music more impressive is his penchant for phase looping a wide array of different instruments during his live performances, allowing him to conduct his complicated stage show all by himself and giving the term “one-man band” a whole new definition.

Though his style has constantly changed and evolved over the years (Bluegrass, Jazz, Acoustic, Folk, Rock — you name it, he’s played it) Williams’ 17th studio album, Bass, explores a genre left untouched by his previous efforts — Reggae and Funk.

9. Blue Man Group at Aronoff

When most people get the blues, they end up feeling glum, but most who get the blues this week or next — in the form of the Blue Man Group — will leave the Aronoff Center in downtown Cincinnati with a smile on his or her face. In fact, publicity for this first-time touring production promises that you’ll be in “a blissful, euphoric state.” This unusual entertainment combines comedy, music and technology — and absolutely no spoken language.

For more than two decades, three guys in blue latex makeup have been astonishing and delighting audiences with rhythmic percussion, visual gags, audience participation and a stage full of tomfoolery. If you’ve never seen Blue Man, well, you need to.
