Sarah Walters

Meteorologist Sarah Walters is so excited to return home to the Midwest and work at WCPO, the same station that she interned at in college! Throughout her life, Sarah lived in a number of cities in Indiana and Ohio, including Bloomington, Indiana, where she went to school for Meteorology.

Sarah Walters joined the 9 News team as a Meteorologist and Multimedia Journalist in December of 201l, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge pertaining to the tri-state area, and the weather systems typical to the Midwest. She also gained valuable experience in severe weather forecasting in the northern tip of Tornado Alley, when working in Omaha, Nebraska. When severe weather strikes, you can count on Sarah, and the entire 9 News weather team, to give you the latest warnings and information, as it’s happening.

In fact, Sarah has been a long time member of both the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). She carries the seal of approval from both organizations, including the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal from the AMS.

Sarah has loved weather since she was a child! Her Dad was a private pilot who flew small planes, so keeping an eye on the weather was part of life. She loved to track storms at a young age, and sit on the porch with her folks, watching them as they rolled by.

That love of weather grew into a career in Broadcast Meteorology. When asked what she likes most about her job she answers, “I love telling people what the weather will do and how they can prepare for their day. It’s so rewarding during severe weather as well… keeping everyone informed on where the storms are, and where they are heading!”

When not tracking storms and giving the weather forecast on 9 News, Sarah enjoys the outdoors, working out, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
