Howard joined WVXU on April 25, 2012 after 37 years in the newspaper business, having taken an early retirement buy-out from the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Born: Dayton, Ohio
Education: Studied journalism and history at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.
Prior to working for the Enquirer, Howard worked as a reporter for the Painesville (OH) Telegraph, The Wilmington (NC) Star-News and the Troy (OH) Daily News.
From Oct. 1982 until April 2012, Howard worked for the Cincinnati Enquirer, principally as a politics writer and columnist, but also on many special projects, particularly involving veterans.
Howard has covered every presidential election since 1976, including 12 presidential nominating conventions and five presidential inaugurals.
In addition to covering politics, howard has written extensively on veterans’ affairs and baseball (one of my passions) and covered major events in Cincinnati and Ohio, including the 1985 collapse of the savings and loan industry, the 1997 Ohio River floods and the 1993 Lucasville prison riots.
In May, Howard was inducted in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Cincinnati Journalism Hall of Fame.
