Sherry Hughes came to WCPO-TV in the fall of 2011 from the CBS Television affiliate in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida where she served as Weekend Meteorologist and Reporter. Sherry joins the 9 News team as Meteorologist and Multimedia Journalist. You can find her forecasting the weather on 9 News weekend evening newscasts as well as filling in during the weekdays. In addition, Sherry will contribute to news gathering efforts during the week.

Sherry is a native South Carolinian who grew up in Oakley, the suburbs of Charleston, South Carolina. It was in the Low Country where Sherry’s love for weather and she jokes, great seafood, was nurtured.

Sherry is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she studied Broadcast Journalism and a graduate of Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program. She holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and is a member of AMS and NWA.

Sherry is an experienced meteorologist whom has honed her weather skills in various television markets across the country which includes severe, winter, tropical and extreme heat weather phenomenon.

Sherry is excited to call the Tri-State home and is eager to get involved out in the community. She is married to a diehard UC Bearcat and resides in the Corryville neighborhood of Cincinnati. Sherry says it’s a beautiful world when a Gamecock and Bearcat can coexist peacefully in the Buckeye State.
