Update:
The victim of the crash described below has been identified as T.C. Bell, 70, of North College Hill.
Original story:
A semi truck driver is facing vehicular manslaughter charges after a car was pinned under his truck, killing the car's driver.
Police said the morning's heavy fog played a big role in the crash, which happened before 1 a.m. Wednesday along the westbound lanes of the Ronald Reagan Highway between Blue Rock Road and I-275 in Colerain Township.
The semi crosses the westbound lanes of traffic, and a
car slammed into the semi pinning it underneath.
Police told 9News the semi was in the emergency u-turn lane in the median.
As the driver, Robert Grott, a 61 year old man from
Illinois, pulled his truck out onto the highway, but the car got stuck.
Police believe the driver of the car did not see the
trailer blocking the interstate, because of the fog,
until it was too late.
The only person in the car was the driver.
The truck driver was not injured.
He now faces one count of vehicular manslaughter.
