The Bengals sign free agent TE Nate Lawrie to a one-year contract.
Lawrie (6-7, 256; Yale) has 15 career NFL games played, with two receptions for 32 yards. He is classified a third-year NFL player in 2007.
He played in seven games for New Orleans last season, with one reception for 17 yards, and was waived by the Saints on Nov. 21. He was not with an NFL team in 2007 prior to Thursday’s signing.
Lawrie entered the NFL in 2004 as a sixth-round draft choice of Tampa Bay. He played in two games for the Bucs in ’04, with 1 catch for 15 yards, but spent most of the year on the practice squad. In 2005, he played in six games for the Bucs (no statistics) and was inactive for four games on the New Orleans roster after the Saints acquired him on waivers.
