CINCINNATI (AP) -- Reds right-hander Bronson Arroyo has decided against surgery on his right wrist for the carpal tunnel syndrome that has nagged him for years.
Arroyo said Sunday that he'll treat the problem conservatively instead of having surgery.
He led the Reds with 15 wins this season and had a 3.84 ERA that was best in the rotation. Arroyo pitched a team-high 220 1-3 innings despite the problem, which flared up during spring training.
Arroyo gave up playing the guitar during the season, which helped the weakness in his hand subside. He plans to resume playing guitar during the offseason, then give it up again when the season approaches.
