The Cincinnati Reds will be without the services of right fielder Jay Bruce for the next six to eight weeks.
Bruce fractured his wrist Saturday while trying to make a sliding catch on David Wright's liner in the first inning of a 4-0 loss to the Mets in New York.
He underwent an MRI on Sunday. The team said the MRI did not show any damage to the tendons or ligaments in Bruce's right wrist.
Bruce will be examined again on Thursday before the Reds' first game after the All-Star break.
The 22-year-old outfielder is leading the Reds with 18 home runs through 81 games, but is only hitting .207. He also has 41 RBIs which is third on the team.
Cincinnati recalled Adam Rosales to fill Bruce's roster spot. Chris Dickerson started in right field on Sunday.
