The Bengals today signed fullback Fui Vakapuna of Brigham Young, one of the team’s seventh-round draft selections in the 2009 draft.

Vakapuna (6-0, 260; pronounced “FOO-ee vah-kuh-POO-nuh”), the first of the Bengals’ three seventh-round picks, played four seasons at BYU (2003 and ’06-08), with a redshirt year in ’02. He helped lead BYU to a 32-7 record over his final three campaigns. He played in 42 total games for the Cougars, totaling 1181 rushing yards and 14 TDs on 249 carries (4.7-yard average).
