Opening Day Facts and Gameday Notes
  • More than 42,000 baseball fans will be making their way to the the ballpark, and those who don't allow plenty of time for traffic and screening should be prepared for long delays, and they are likely to miss the start of the game.
  • Metro will maintain service, but will be delayed due to the parade. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes around the downtown area due to the congestion caused by the parade and heavier than normal traffic attending the opening day baseball game.
  • From Northern Kentucky, TANK will be offering $1.25 fares. Fans can catch a Southbank Shuttle every 15 minutes from all major hotels, convention centers and a number of other locations on both sides of the river. Click here for more information.
  • Fans will fight commuters for the 35,000 downtown public parking spaces in about 30 garages and surface lots. Many won't offer early bird specials. Prices range from $15 close to the ballpark to $5 above Central Parkway. Click here for a list of available downtown parking near the ballpark.
  • Either before you leave or while on the road, take advantage of the 511 Traveler Information Hotline, a service of ARTIMIS, the Advanced Regional Traffic Interactive Management & Information System. Call the 5-1-1 number from any touch tone phone and follow the instructions to receive up-to-the minute traffic information and estimated travel times.
  • Motorists are advised to use alternate routes around the downtown area, because the parade and additional traffic brought by the opening day baseball game will increase congestion.
  • Access to downtown hotels within the parade route closures will be maintained and motorists should seek the assistance of a detailed police officer.
  • Streets will remain closed until it is determined safe to open, after the parade has passed.
