University Hospital has confirmed that the sister of a Dearborn County teen who died from the H1N1 virus earlier this month, has also died of the disease.
Hospital officials say 26-year-old Mindy McIntosh, of Moores Hill, Indiana, died just after 7 p.m. Monday evening.
Mindy's 19-year-old brother Matthew McIntosh died July 5 after both were admitted to the hospital with an unknown illness.
Test results later confirmed that both had contracted the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu.
Mindy McIntosh had been listed in critical condition, but there were reports that she had been improving.
Her brother Matthew collapsed in a barn near their home.
Officials were unsure for some time what was wrong with the McIntosh's, but it wasn’t until after Matthew's death that it was confirmed that they both had contracted the H1N1 virus.
Matthew’s death was recorded as the first swine flu death in Hamilton County because the hospital where he died is located in that county.
