The NAACP national convention wraps up Thursday night and it's obvious that the gathering brought a lot of business to downtown restaurants.

But businesses from the suburbs got a bite of the action as well.

Fairfield's "Taste Of Julia's" and five other local eateries created a make-shift food court inside Duke Energy Center this week.

Vendors also set up on Fountain Square – and they didn't go un-noticed.

"Just from the feedback that we got from talking to people, it sounded like mostly a local crowd," said Kelly Leon, of 3CDC. "And mostly people coming down specifically for Obama and saying, 'Wow, things are really happening downtown,' and specifically on Fountain Square."

More than 8,000 were expected to visit downtown to attend this week's convention.
