Saturday marks one year since two local firefighters were killed in the line of duty.

Captain Robin Broxterman, 37, and Firefighter Brian Schira, 29, gave the ultimate sacrifice while battling a house fire in Colerain Township on April 4, 2008.

Colerain Township firefighters will remember Broxterman and Schira with a quiet, private memorial service at a local church Saturday night.

Only firefighters and firefighter families are invited to the service.

Tones will sound for Broxterman and Schira at 6:30 Saturday morning and many fire stations across the area are expected to observe a moment of silence.

Do you know of an event this weekend to honor Firefighters Broxterman and Schira? Let us know.
