MEXICO CITY (AP) -- The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Marie has formed over the Pacific, hundreds of miles southwest of the Baja California Peninsula.
Hurricane specialist Richard Pasch says the storm is expected to move further out to sea and poses no threat to land.
Marie became a tropical storm Wednesday morning and was centered 575 miles (930 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of the peninsula. It had winds of 50 mph (85 kph) and was moving northwest at 9 mph (15 kph).
