There are many ways to celebrate at midnight on New Year's Eve, but a local organization is warning Tri-State residents about the danger of shooting guns to mark the new year.

The Kentucky Crime Prevention Coalition says revelers should avoid shooting guns into the air on New Year's Eve because what goes up, must come down.

The Coalition wants to prevent local residents from being accidentally injured or killed by stray bullets.

Additionally, officials say bullets fired into the air can damage power lines and interrupt utility service.
