College students in Ohio may soon be asked to register their cell phone numbers so they can be contacted in case of an emergency.
That's one of dozens of recommendations from a task force reviewing safety plans in the wake of the Virginia Tech massacre.
It took school officials two hours to e-mail students a warning about the gunman on campus.
Other recommendations include prewritten messages from schools, periodic disaster drills, and a tip line for callers with information about potential security threats.
