Mattingly was based in Fort Bragg and was engaged to an Army captain.
He is survived by mother, Randi, and sister, Michelle.
A 30-year-old Xavier University graduate has been killed in Iraq.
Captain Matthew Mattingly died wednesday near mosul.
Mattingly is originally from Reynolsburg, which is near Columbus, Ohio.
Mattingly was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.
He died when his helicopter took on enemy fire.
