I think it is a great thing to see an area where people care about their property and it's appearance. As long as the homes aren't built with tax payers funds then I am all for it. The homes should be available to anyone that can afford them on their own. The city west situation is a total failure. Murders, rapes, thefts and drug dealing on the street. Those places are trashed already. If Northside gets it right then "GREAT JOB" to them....but why is mayor buffoon making an appearance? What did he have to do with the success of the area?

Northside is a wonderful place. its great to see a smaller community stand up and take care of itself within its diverse population..it a mecca of art..old and new concepts..despite the plight of crime burdening every corner of cinti..the majority of the people dont reflect this..other communities should take some notes from Norhtsides pride and accomplishments!

I'm a Northside resident, my house is a renovated 119 year old victorian. As is every house on my street. People love our houses and have used them in wedding pictures. We clean the street ourselves, pay for and plant flowers on the opposite side of the street so that it doesn't come out of the tax payer's pockets. We paint over graffiti and pay for the paint ourselves. I think it's great that the neighborhood is undergoing gentrification.

Irishlad,I live in Northside right in the Hot Zone of all this rehab and new construction these homes are being built or rehabbed then sold to homeowners ,No rentals.. no section 8..all the funds for these homes were obtained through grants and donations and the Blood sweat and tears of one S. Sunderland.. she should be the role model for any aspiring community leader that wishes to turn their crime ridden, drug infested neighborhood around.. Also ,the homes are resonably priced not overpriced like most of the homes @ City West.. so far they have built 2 new homes and 1 rehabbed home and they have all sold withing 5 months of being on the market.one rehabbed home was sold even before the first open house took place.. today they are unveiling several more rehabs that I am sure will sell quickly as well.. City leaders should take note.. They are doing it right in Northside.

Do the research yourself.

Are these homes built with tax payer funds? Do the "less fortunate" get to live in them for free? If that is the case the appliances will be sold, the copper stripped from the home and more crime brought into the area. That is exactly what happened with the "City West" area town homes.
