CINCINNATI -- The Tri-State is preparing to get its first formal peek at an older city neighborhood that has been quietly getting a brand new look.

Depending on where you look in Northside, you can begin to see how the neighborhood is slowly changing for the better.

The is especially evident at the corner of Chase Avenue near Fergus Street, where you can now see a pair of brand new single family homes. Private developers and the city helped to construct the homes, which sit on a site that was formerly a neighborhood bar.

This particular section of Chase Avenue used to have a bad reputation for crime and drugs. But not anymore.

Nearby, other newly renovated homes feature enough energy efficiencies built in to be classified as "green homes".

These homes, both the new and the newly renovated, will be among those showcased by the city on Thursday. City leaders point to Fergus Street and other nearby Northside properties as examples of the new kinds of homes coming on the market in Cincinnati.

Both Cincinnati and Northside community leaders plan on gathering around 10 a.m. Thursday to tour the neighborhood and some of these new homes.

We'll have this combination tour, celebration and news conference covered for you throughout the day, with updates here at wcpo.com and later on 9News.
