Even though foreclosures are slowing there are many people still trying to save their homes. An estimated 3,000 people called a phone-a-thon this week seeking help to prevent foreclosure.

Mike is a resident in Hamilton County who did not want to use his full name because he is going through the process of restructuring his mortgage.

He called the foreclosure phone-a-thon for assistance. He wanted others to know they are not alone.

"We've had several houses that had this problem all over the neighborhood," Mike said.

He put his house on the market when he could not keep up with the payments.

His goal was to at least save his credit and receive built up equity before the bank took his home.

Mike is not working due to an injury, and never thought he would be in the situation hundreds of thousands of Americans find themselves. "Just struggling from day to day," he said.

Rick Williams of Home Ownership Center of Greater Cincinnati sponsored the phone event and made it clear, they are providing opportunities to renegotiate with banks and do not guarantee any results.

Mike is glad for the help to try and save his home.

"They seem to be pretty hopeful with helping me get things straightened out," explained Mike. "Hopefully, we'll get on the right track and get things back together."
