Shiny, new condos have opened in downtown Cincinnati just in time for the city's celebration of Home Ownership Month.
What was once a trouble-spot known as the Phoenix Bar – across across the street from the Aronoff Center – is now the city's newest urban living showcase.
Mayor Mark Mallory says developers converted the building to condominiums above an upscale, street-level bar.
The new bar owner will own one of the condos.
"That's a very similar set-up to probably what was happening here when this building was built in the late 1800s,” said Mallory. “I mean, you would have had an operating business downstairs and the owner living above it. So, this is really getting back to the heritage of this building."
