I've always thought Watergate was the beginning of the end for press credibility. Anti-war, anti-establishment "Hippies" flooded into journalism school in hopes of becoming the next Woodward or Bernstein, nailing the next Nixon. Most of them grew up and served in the Clinton admin. (ha) and some we're still dealing with. Unfortunately, they're the ones teaching at these schools now. I do smile when I hear of dwindling circulation numbers for newspapers such as the New York Times (head of the snake), or viewers of the big 3 TV networks (New York Times with a screen and talking head). This gives me hope that the cycle will be broken and real journalism will someday prevail.

I hate politics and politicians. When Watergate broke, I thought we had them on the run. Instead, that was the time that journalists took up for anything democrat. Some may say it happened before that, but I think that was just the "Camelot" fascination. They were still journalists, and still pretty evenhanded. Unfortunately, when Watergate broke, they went into the Orwell thing with the "four legs good, two legs bad" philosophy, concentrating their "good vibes" on democrats only. Too bad. Our forefathers knew a free press was essential to democracy. They never envisioned them voluntarily giving up their credibility. It was unheard of in their day. When that leg of democracy fell, we were in trouble. So yes, they treat the two parties differently. But life swings like a pendulum. This will eventually be brought back under control, but in the meantime, we will be in for a rough ride. The populace will bring the politicians back into control. Will they ever realize how much the press is complicit? Or is the exodus away from the traditional media the beginning of something?

Ekhator: Thank God an adult showed up that I can disagree with! Yes you are under a microscope if you decide to enter into politics; however, my gripe is that it seems to be different sized microscopes for different people. If Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson et. al. had interviewed Obama the same way they did Palin, we may have a President McCain now (not saying that's a good thing, we'd still be going to hell, just with a smaller handbasket). Please remember she had an 80-something percent approval rating among Alaskans when Pelosi's Congress had 16%. Yes, stepping down seems a little fishy now, but let's see what happens. She's always been unconventional.

Just when I thought it was impossible to go any lower, liberals prove there is no bottom...

She is a nice lady. It's nice to think if your daughter gets raped, she's forced to have a rape baby, we want to be kind and pass on those genetics of the rapist. And isn't it nice to kill things for fun? Sticking turkeys head first into a grinder and thinking nothing of it is nice too. Gotta do some trophy huntin. Don't cha know?

Sarah Palin is a nice lady, unfortunately, she takes constructive/none-constructive criticisms too personal. As a public figure, she has no private life in political arenas. It should have served her well if she responsed to her critics with humour. Stepping down as governor of Alaska, just less than two years left, does not speak well for her as a leader. She's just a person and does not represent the hard working women/mothers I know.

nope I mean people like you who think that if you vote for Palin she will personally stop by and blow you

Maybe naistewart is right about Palin. She barely had more experience than Obama, and look where he has led us. The blind sheep who thought a rookie could handle something this big should have listened, explored, learned.

"I freely admit that I have a predjudice against those without common sense" You mean those idiots who fell for the global warming scam?

Because it was her answer to her experience on foreign policy.
