FAIRFIELD, Ohio -- An investigation is underway after two people were found dead outside of a Fairfield day care center Monday morning.

Officials from the Fairfield Police Department say a man and a woman were found dead inside an SUV in the parking lot of the Jelly Bean Junction on Winton Road around 9 a.m. Monday morning.

The man mowing the lawn for the day care center noticed one of the victims in the car and asked the director of the day care center to call police.

Police have identified the victims as Francisco Restituyo, 47, and Evelyn Restituyo, 46. Investigators say they were married at one time but are not sure if they were still together. Francisco lived in Liberty Township, while Evelyn lived in Colerain Township.

Investigators say both were shot in the head inside the vehicle Monday morning. Authorities are still trying to determine if this is a homicide or a murder-suicide and why they were found at the day care.

Detectives say the couple had no connection to that location.

The SUV was parked next to a trash bin about a dozen spaces from the front door and in front of a fenced-in playground at the center.

No children at the day care were injured. The center immediately went into lockdown, so the children could not see what was going on outside the door. Lines were drawn, children did not play outside all day.

The director of the day care center says she reviewed records and the names of the victims did not match any parents' names or emergency contacts for children enrolled at the center.

Nearby business owners said they are shocked to see something like this happen in an area they've always considered safe.

The lot was closed until about 12:30 p.m. as investigators removed the bodies and towed the vehicle.

Detectives say each victim was shot in the head. A gun was found in the SUV.

Autopsies will be performed Tuesday. Investigators say that should tell them more about what happened.
