INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Two sophomore girls have sued their Indiana school district after they were punished for posting sexually suggestive photos on MySpace during their summer vacation.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana argues in a federal lawsuit filed last week on the girls' behalf that Churubusco High School violated the girls' free speech rights when it banned them from extracurricular activities for a joke that didn't involve the school.
The ACLU says the girls were humiliated when the principal forced them to apologize to the all-male coaches board and undergo counseling.
School attorney Erik Weber says the principal was only enforcing the school's athletic code and acted in good faith.
