Two local men will walk over one thousand miles in September to raise awareness and money for the ALS Association.

Brian Hronek and Joe Jungkunz started walking Saturday and the path will take them through Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.  They will be taking only backpacks.

The walk is a tribute to Mike Stanforth, Hroneck family friend, who was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Brian and Joe will be back in Cincinnati on October 1st, where they will deliver the ball for the Reds/Cardinals game.

You can keep track of Brian and Joe with their online blog at www.1000milewalk.blogspot.com or http://news.cincinnati.com/gehrigblog.

Contributions are always being accepted through the ALS Association.  You can contribute to the walk by visiting http://web.alsa.org/goto/Mike.Stanforth.
