MASON, Ohio -- The city of Mason is cutting back on its leaf collection budget so the process might take a little longer this year.
People who work in departments like Parks and Recreation and Engineering and Building are stepping in to help Public Works get the job done without accruing overtime. City leaders also decided not to hire seasonal workers to help this year.
The change is expected to save Mason about $25,000.
"It will take longer because we don't have as many crews and we can't keep them out as long," said Mason's Public Information Officer, Jennifer Trepal. "It may take longer to get people to your neighborhood but we are trying very hard, with the help of other departments, to get all the leaves collected," she said.
If you live in Mason, watch for signs in your neighborhood that will let you know when it's your turn for leaf collection.
