For Veterans Day Wednesday, one Tri-State school is going beyond recognizing members of the military; they are also raising money for the local heroes.

Students at Mason Middle School are planning to collect spare change at their annual Veterans Day ceremony.

Mason veterans are invited to attend the ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mason Middle School, which is located in the 6000 block of Mason-Montgomery Road.

Veterans will be greeted with refreshments and patriotic performances by students.

This year will be the first time that the ceremony will also serve as a fundraiser for Honor Flight Tri-State, which is a non-profit organization that sends World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to view their World War II memorial.  The trip is free to all veterans.

Students will donate money throughout the week.
