President Obama says he'll sign a defense bill approving funds to build a second GE engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program.

Once signed, the bill would keep 1,000 jobs at the Evendale complex.

The president made the announcement at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. A spokesman for GE Aviation says the company is thrilled with the president's decision.

It is still waiting on the official amount of funding.
