A driving program taught by students and public safety officials aims to keep young drivers safe.
Students at Northwest High School in Colerain Township launched "Driving Angels" after the deaths of two friends.
The inaugural teen driving class was held today at the Colerain Township Administration Building on Springdale Road.
Miranda Phelps and Lauren Dietz were killed in a car accident two years ago.
Colerain High School student Jessica Phillips died in a car crash this past June.
Desiree Rohrig and several classmates from Northwest High School came up with the idea for "Driving Angels" to help promote driver safety in high schools.
The class is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Peer educators, police, and other emergency personnel will cover safety topics including speeding, impaired driving, driving with distractions and trauma caused by accidents.
More classes are planned.
