Last Update: 6/23 3:47 pm
Mona Harrison Morrow only left the Cincinnati area twice – both times to attend college. She grew up in Kennedy Heights and attended Walnut Hills High School where a public speaking class sparked her interest in the communications field.

As the Community Affairs Director at WCPO-TV for nine years, Mona is responsible for the station’s community service campaigns, philanthropic endeavors and FCC public file. She co-created and manages the station’s minority high school internship program. Previously, she held a similar position at WXIX-TV where she earned a National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation Award for a program she created with Kids Voting where kids were reporters on Election Day.

Mona has also been the director of community relations and visitor services for the Cincinnati Zoo, a communications specialist with Cincinnati Public Schools and taught communications at the University of Cincinnati. Mona’s first job out of graduate school was at WLWT-TV as a producer. There she created a news segment entitled Small Talk for which she earned an Emmy Award.

Mona graduated from the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in mass media and received a master’s degree in communications from Miami University, Ohio. She was a member of the first graduating class of Certified Community Affairs Professionals (CCAP) developed at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She is also a certified Bible teacher.

Mona attends Bond Hill Presbyterian Church where she teaches adult Sunday school and Bible study. She also volunteers with several organizations including serving on the executive committee of the board of Bridges for a Just Community and on the Advisory Board for the American Cancer Society.

Mona lives in Kenwood with her 18-year-old son.
