Montgomery looks to improve community recycling efforts by joining forces with rewards program called RecycleBan. The program gives points to participating residents according to how much they recycle. The residents in turn use the points for coupons, discounts and free stuff.
The program costs nearly $300,000 and was made available to the City of Montgomery by the Hamilton County Solid Waste District with a gift of $70,000, another $100,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Rumpke pitched in a final $115,000 to finish it off.
The money pays for services and the new 64 gallon recycle bins that replace the previous 18 gallon bins.
If the service works Rumpke hopes to expand the pilot program into other communities it serves.
