With fuel prices the way they are many are looking for alternatives such as biodiesel to fuel their vehicles.
But did you know that soy biodiesel can also be used to heat your home?
It's called bioheat. It's a blend of soy biodiesel and conventional home heating oil.
The Ohio Soybean Council says because Bioheat fuel can burn so cleanly, your heating system will operate more efficiently and require less maintenance saving you money.
Among some of the benefits, Bioheat fuel will perform in current oil heating systems no modifications or changes will be needed.
"It's a homegrown product made from soybeans grown right here in Ohio and you're helping farmers find a new use for their product," said Jamie Butts, of the Ohio Soybean Council.
"But then also, the consumer that's using the fuel you're helping to burn a cleaner home heating oil that lessons our dependence on foreign oil and provides cleaner air for the environment," added Butts.
