Deputy patrols will be the topic of conversation Tuesday at a meeting between Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis and area township leaders.
The sheriff is expected to discuss how many county deputies will be able to help local authorities enforce the law. Because of the sagging economy, Sheriff Leis says deputy patrols in Anderson, Colerain and Green townships have to be cut.
Sheriff Leis is scheduled to meet with representatives from those townships at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Patrol Post on Hamilton Avenue in New Burlington to discuss how many deputies will be allocated to each area. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm.
In addition to cutting back patrols in some county areas, the Sheriff has also laid-off dozens of employees, closed the Queensgate Jail and reassigned deputies who used to man metal detectors at the downtown building that houses the Hamilton County Prosecutor's offices and the appeals court.
