MASON, Ohio -- The Diamondback roller coaster set new records for Kings Island in its first season. 1.85 million people rode the Diamondback this summer. That's the park's largest opening for a ride since the Vortex debuted in 1987. That year more than 2 million people tried it out.
Meanwhile, 67-year-old Gary Coleman, of Monfort Heights, set a personal record at the park. He rode the Diamondback more than 1,579 times in his 90 visits to the park this year. That's more than any other Kings Island visitor in 2009.
