If they do layoff the cops will citizens be able to call Dohoney to come and help them? Who will Ms.Cole call to bail her out of trouble if there aren't any cops? I say if they layoff the cops that the rest of the cops should go on strike and let all the haters fend for themselves. If you despise the police then you really don't need them anyway, right? Cincinnati is a lost cause and the sooner it hits rock bottom the better.A streetcar will not save the city. No more money should be spent on the disgusting pit in which the vermin dwell. ThinkItOver, may you fend off the wolves by yourself as you board the streetcar on it's way through crack infested thugville.

ThinkItOver...you are right, there have been quite a few police and firefighter in the news these past years but the thing is the only time you hear about it is when they do something wrong. Just because they are Police and Firemen and they get caught doing something that most of us do they are automatically put all over the news. If another city employee who is not a police officer or firefighter did the same thing it would not be all over the news. It is a shame that all police officers and firefighters get such a bad wrap for the few of them that are making bad decisions. I know many, many firefighters and police officers and most of them are great people who love what they are doing and love helping the people of Cincinnati. It is a shame that these people don't get credit for all of the good that they do for our city but the minute one of the stupid ones make one bad mistake it is all over the news. The fact of the matter is that if they lay off they are going to lay off the younger, newer firefighers and police officers and they won't get rid of the officers and firefighters that have gotten in trouble. It will be a sad, sad day if they lay off these good people.

ThinkItOver: You're right I don't know how they work, never followed it. Thanks for the insight. I just find it odd that more and more police officers/fire fighters are out of work, yet there's money for everything but what's really needed here.

Versace... you clearly have no clue how municipal budgets work. Funds come from many different sources to cover the services provided by the City. There is absolutely no relationship between the money for street cars and the money used to pay police officers. The funds that would be used for something like the street car project can't be used to pay salaries and vice versa. I am so sick of unionized employees like the police and fire that believe their own well being is above everyone else's. How many Cincinnati Police and Firefighters have been in the news in the past few years for doing something that is illegal or unethical. I would not call that Cincinnati's finest and this is just another example of bad decision making by those that serve and protect. I have a feeling the number of police and firefighters that work for the City is going to decrease. The only other option is that City Council actually make the tough decsions that real leaders make and either raise taxes or make real cuts to services and public safety.

Why lay off more police? The crime rate is through the roof, so why can city council cancel golfing trips or other programs that waste money? You people are stupid. You are going to lay off more police because the city is broke, but you have money for street cars that roll right thru crack ville. I'm moving.
