Good morning –
It first aired on TV in 1990, but last night the Sickmiller household watched, for the first time, Twin Peaks. The hour and a half long pilot. It was actually really great, interesting storyline, great characters, and lots of unintentional humor due to the fact that it’s 20 years old. First, the picture is square. Not 16:9, not 4:3. 3:3. Second, the intro is like five minutes long, with an overdose of terrible looking green graphics and strangely over-dramatic music. The show is only two seasons long, and from what I read, ABC rushed the plot because ratings were slipping in the second season, so some of the story isn’t quite the way the writers wanted it. But I’m still looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. 20 years after everyone else.
Can anyone explain mock turtle soup to me? I Googled it, but I’m still confused. Why would I want to eat turtles? And if it’s imitation turtle meat, why would I want to fool my taste buds into thinking they’re eating turtles? And even if I did want to eat real or imitation turtles, why would I put them in soup form?
The Bengals may or may not be on TV and people may or may not care, but the #4 Bearcats will definitely be on TV, nationally, and here on Channel 9. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. tomorrow. And at 7 p.m. there’s an hour-long 9Sports special about the Bearcats’ rise to the top. And I’m certain there’s a lot of work going into it, based on Popo’s continued presence in the newsroom until at least 3 a.m. today.
My favorites from today's GMTS:
- Joe Girardi To The Rescue –
On his way home from winning the World Series, the Yankees manager stopped to help a woman who crashed her car on the highway. I linked to the Boston Globe version of the article, because I know how much Boston loves the Yankees.
- Toy Hall of Fame Inductees –
At the top of the list, the ball. Hilarious.

Some parts of this are just this side of the “not safe for work” border, but it’s so funny, I couldn’t resist. Real examples of parents’ behavior on Facebook.
