Good Morning Tri-State Email Newsletter
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Good morning --

Apparently a lot of people are off work tomorrow, July 3rd. I do not know when it became necessary to celebrate July 4th eve, but I'm sure no one is complaining.

July 4th requirements:
-- Eating a hot dog.
-- Buying red white and blue napkins.
-- Writing your name in the air with a sparkler.
-- Trying to find the cat, who has run away in fear of the noise.
-- Celebrating your patriotism by gazing at fireworks made in China.

Now where was I on my computer list. I believe I stopped with a 486SX Packard Bell my family bought in 1993.

Okay then along came the Pentium processor. This was all the rage, according to Intel. So much the rage that I once heard a QVC salesman pronounce it "penshum." He was certain that it was the most powerful computer money could buy, he told me several times.

To take my nerdiness to the next level, at some point I started building computers by buying all the different peripherals online then assembling the thing. It's either remarkable or disturbing that I spent some of my youth this way, but I enjoyed it. These were all PCs. Then in 2001 came Mac OS X. Since then, I've always owned Macs. Because they're perfect. So come on haters, light up my inbox.

The only thing about Macs that I'm not a fan of is the "i" this and "i" that. Apple started that madness a few years ago. Then a bunch of other companies started using it, overusing it, then re-overusing it. I believe the ridiculous use of this prefix letter culminated with a third party iPod product I saw the other day. The iSnug. Because that's what I've always wanted my iPod to be. Snug.

My favorites from today's GMTS:

-- Sears Tower Ledge --
It opens today. You stand on a glass floor, 103 stories above Chicago.

-- A Bottle's 10 Year Bob To Land --
Lady throws a message in a bottle off a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean, it turns up in Ireland 10 years later.

Tri-State Trivia question from today's GMTS:
In what country were the first aerial fireworks developed?
(answer below weather)

ELEGANT INSULTS
I'm guessing these insults would not even be understood by the insultee, making it all the better.
