It's now nearly two weeks since Kroger rolled out its new Fuel Rewards program, which lets you get bigger discounts at the pump that its old program.

But some Tri State drivers say they've found a slight downside with the new system, even though they appreciate the bigger rewards.

Earn $1 Off Per Gallon

Kroger has turned up the gas on its popular program, now making it possible to earn up to 1 dollar off per gallon.  In the past, you would save just 10 cents per gallon.

Shoppers at the Hyde Park Kroger I spoke with two weeks ago were "pumped."

Britney Kinneson told me "That's amazing, I thought 10 cents was good enough."

Susan Kovak said said  "I think its great, its great, I'll have to do a lot more shopping!"

But two weeks later, some shoppers say they have found a few downsides in the fine print.

The Fine Print

Diane Rowland  emailed me to say "we had 530 points and instead of being able to use them 100 at a time and filling up all our cars,  it cashed out all the points for 55 cents off a gallon.  But it was just for the one car, one time."

Indeed, while you will save more at the pump with the new program, it's now harder to spread out your savings over several cars or several fillups.
